This sculpture was a gift from the American ambassador to Iceland, one Mr. Cobb, given in 1991 to celebrate 50 years of partnership between the two countries. Another identical sculpture stands at waterside in South Florida, where the Gulf Stream, which bathes our island in warm tropical waters, is born.

I do actually have an inordinate number of readers in Florida, too. I guess all the potential readers in Wisconsin and Alberta and Maine have had enough cold weather to last a lifetime, and are rather researching their next trip to Anne´s lovely island of Malta...

Well, we had quite enough snow in Michigan this year, but I still check in our your blog lately. Iceland is one of my dream destinations. We like out of the way places with outdoor activities for vacations. I started eyeing Iceland after our trip to the Outer Hebrides awhile ago. I'm wondering how much of a language barrier there would be in travelling there.
