I've added a hit counter there to the left and the number I chose is not random but an actual Google Analytics assements of visits to my site over the past year. Thanks to all who've dropped by ... 33,000+ visitors in twelve months is definitely not too shabby!

Hi Maria...I'm a Michigander, an Icelandophile, and a fan of your blog. I visited Iceland a few years ago, and hope to return soon.

What does "fron" mean?

Now I truly miss Iceland. It's amazing that I go through this every year. Still catch myself looking up for the Northern lights even though I know that they won't be there. Thank you for keeping things so fresh in my mind.

Hi Maria ... I hope that you remember me. I am still teaching sixth grade English here in Central Texas and yearning for the opportunity to visit Iceland. It has been much too long since I have visited. I would love to use the photographers posted on your blog as prompts to writing exercises in my classroom. I will hold off on doing so until I hear from. Please consider it and let me know. A small request... Any chance you might make a trip out to Keflavik and get a picture of the lighthouse? Would certainly bring back many fond memories of my time in Iceland. Thanks so much from Central Texas.

Hi Brian. I do remember you from comments long ago. Yes, you have my permission to use any of my photos for writing exercises. In fact, I'd love to read anything your students write! I'll do my best to get out to the lighthouse soon. It would make for a nice weekend roadtrip. Good to hear from you again...

Deslilas, I love the past/present photo collection on your blog. I'm a sucker for old pix and history. (I wish I'd paid more attention in French classes, though!)

And thanks for the cheer, Jay!
