Arrival

Like a dream come true, Iceland Eyes has made it to the Big Time: printed and bound in a pretty book called Reykjavík, one of two volumes in the Iceland Cool and Crisp series published by Veröld, with more to come.

All the photos in the book are from this blog, though I created the accompanying text to suit the form and intent of the book: something bright and pretty, informative and creative for travelers to take home with them for a decent price. Their editor, Bjarni Þorsteinsson, did a fantastic job of manifesting into physical form two hard-cover excursions into the visitor's Iceland. Kudos to him!

And I have to thank my parents, Þórir and Ásthildur Roff (Thor and Asta) for prompting me often, especially when they were still out in California, to post another photo, to keep on with the blog. Likewise, the steady stream of compliments and comments from around the world, from strangers who believe in and like what Iceland Eyes has to offer, keep me encouraged and inspired to find those sweet visual moments in the bustle of the busy world. Faithful visitors, you know who you are: Many Many Thanks !!! And to my children Valentína and Óðinn: your patience with me as I post is invaluable. When the urge to write takes over and I shush you as I fall into a spell of words, you give me the time to let it happen, even if it means dinner is late. Love and love and love ~.~

Til hamingju! Congratulatons!

That's really wonderful that you are not only recognized, but accessible to that part of humanity that does not (yet) read blogs!

Congratulations!!!

Your blog was a treasure to me when I started researching our trip to Iceland, and in the following two years since our trip, I looked forward to every single post. (And still!) The photos are wonderful...you capture the spirit and energy of Iceland.

Congratulaions, again. Thoroughly deserved.

Congratulations!

I've been a big fan of your photos (and your blog in general) for a while now.

Where is the book available? Is it for sale outside of Iceland?

The book isn't available outside of Iceland yet, but you can always email the publisher at bjarni@bjartur.is and let him know that you're out there in the world and you'd like a copy. I'm assuming that he intends to place it on Amazon, but go ahead and write him (I'll do so too!) so we can get that to happen sem fyrst, or asap!

Congratulations! I wrote you a comment earlier on - I went to high school with you and was on drill team with you as well. Jill Johnson in high school. I read your blog religiously and can't wait for the next picture to be posted! I never in my life considered visiting Iceland until I started reading this blog. Now it is a top 10 destination spot for me in the future! Once again, congratulations!!

Thanks, Jill. I remember you! Hope all is well in your life. Definitely drop me a line when you get here :-)

And Addy, my wonderful big sis, your official copy is on it's way!

Julie, I'll change the link to your newer blogs...nice stuff by the way. Love The Promise!

digdug, faithful reader since day one, so glad you're still out there. And Luis, who's commented so often, helping to remind me that the world's a very big small place, thank you too.

Congratulations Maria!

Wow, what an accomplishment. Iceland Eyes is a stop I make regularly. Keep up the great work.

Next April will mark 10 years (gasp!) since my only visit to Iceland... These publications are one more reason I'll add to my list of "Reasons to return to Iceland"...

Thanks again. Sjáumst!
